So what you said about below gold not getting matched with diamonds and masters is not true. Unless what you were saying is for players that should not normally be matched like that a long queue time will not make a diffrence in that regard. In which case it was very ambigious.

That part is not true, because I misremembered the real policy which is (worst players) won't be matched with (best players) And I somehow in my mind understood that to be bronze/silver against diamond/masters but that was not the case, although it can be depending on MMR. Since the criteria is actually MMR difference a top tier silver is probably likely to be matched with a low tier diamond assuming a long queue. But at some point, you are just too bad or too good to be matched with someone on the other end of the spectrum. Barraccudda is never going to be matched with a Bronze 5 player.

And that qualifying players won't be matched with platinum or better no matter how good the qualifier is, but that's only for the first 10 games and then you can never go back.

But I also said that the specific line is unclear. It says MMR difference and doesn't specify if it's one person or a whole team. If I got some guy with 4000 MMR and 4 awful losers with 100 MMR each, and the other team has 5 guys with 880 MMR, does t he matchmaker consider this a fair match? By all rights, the 4000 MMR guy should be able to carry the other 4 guys even though the sum of their MMRs are the same. I don't think this is what was intended by the MM, and if it is, then that probably is an area that actually could use some improvement.

But I never here people complaining on the forums about how they lost a game the people who were carrying them couldn't carry well enough to overcome how bad they were.

So, take that as what you will.

I would call matching a 2600 ELO player with a 1000 ELO player an extreme matchup. Plus, it didn't help this guy was a troll and literally did nothing but feed. That level of ELO difference shouldn't happen.

a 2600 ELO was not matched with a 1000 ELO player because Smite Guru doesn't know what their ELO is, those are guesses based on their own formula that isn't what Hirez uses and are wildly inaccurate most of the time.

Wildly inaccurate only compared to Smite's ELO.

Because the formula on Smiteguru applies equally to all players, it is a great tool for comparison. Huge ELO gaps on SmiteGuru are almost guaranteed to correlate to similarly large ELO gaps within Smite.

there is probably a gap but we don't know how large, and we don't know what the metric Hirez uses for "extreme" is

Secondly, After 3:30 in a queue, the MM will throw you into literally any match no matter what In league, it takes 11:30 before the match maker gives up. Although in league, Below gold players will never be matched with Diamond or Masters players, no matter how long you're in the queue.

If you want more competitive and fair matches, play league. It has more strict matchmaking, and better protections against a bad player getting matched with a really really good one.

Also take a look at your region. If you're playing games at 4 AM in the NA region, be aware that basically only the most hardcore people are going to be up and playing around that time. You're probably going to get matched with them. You can try going to a region in primetime, but you'll have huge lag and I don't recommend it.

    Anyway, peace.
Masters get matched with silver/bronze scrubs, even some with 3k+ elo. There`s no barrier between tiers.

There's very obviously a gap because your precious FAQ even lists the MMR ranges for each tier. You can easily infer the minimum gap between, say, a Diamond and a Silver, and it's even easier to know that such obvious gaps are unacceptable.
