what games are you familiar with? knowing your background would help to know what terms to try to put advice into
If you want assault to be balanced, you're playing it wrong.

You're mine now. Ymir will love you and squeeze you and call you george.

What part of the game are you having trouble grasping? Also what level are you currently?

If you don't already you might want to watch the twitch stream a lot of pro players stream it and more often than not explain what they are doing as they are doing it. There's also the smitegame & smitepro channels thats more directed at teaching & entertaining players.

While this is good from an information point of view mechanics need practice and they need real practice. So don't smurf or only do practice mode thinking that you are learning to play better. You have to play the gods in real situations and that means sometimes you won't have very good games. Just don't let bm get you down, sometimes you gotta take teammates with a grain of salt. Listen to what respectful people say but jerks can run a new player out of a game faster than a disconnection.

Hey, sent ya a PM, but also wanted to add, Assault is very useful for learning gods under extreme circumstances. You''l end up with team setups and gods that you've never seen before.

It's a good way to learn adaptation.

Can you give us an example of some of the problems you've had with the game to help us gauge what level of understanding you're at.

Assuming you're at a minimum level of understanding for this game (but still familiar with an over-the-shoulder third person control scheme). Pick a god you like the look of, sit in jungle practice for like 10 minutes and just use their skills over and over, read all the tool tips, try to figure out a good way the gods skills might work together and how they can best be used to damage your enemy, get used to the characters and the control scheme and then jump into a bot game with that god and just play passively, sit behind your minion wave and try to poke as much as possible without engaging the enemy. DO NOT try to engage the enemy when their minion wave is still alive, those things will destroy you at early levels.

I started out playing about 6 months ago with no knowledge of Mobas or how they work. I was a complete noob. What helps me is to watch streamers who know what they're doing, mimic them, and ask questions if you have them. Most are pretty good at answering, and if they don't their chat will. Eventually, it will feel like you're starting to get a handle on things.

I started with Smite as my first MOBA, and in about 3-4 months I would like to say that I have learned the Meta. Keep playing the game and try to play every God.
When you are playing the Gods learn their kit, but most importantly learn the role you are filling.

If you don't understand the meta game, it is very hard to do well as a team.
