    The Kukulkan build thread

    :3
It's all about the builds for him. Not a buff discussion this time. As a Kukulkan player, I'm seeking builds with the new items that are at least somewhat viable. Also item decisions, mainly about boots.
    1) Which boots?
Mana - This seems good for Kukulkan. Doesn't provide penetration anymore, but with BoT gives 85 Magical Power and 250 Mana over CDR boots.
CDR - Probably THE favorable choice here. His cooldowns are fairly low (7s on that massive slow, 10s off the generic ult CD)
    CCR - Why?
Healing - Doesn't seem to be a reasonable choice. The time he "spends out of combat" is trivial as it takes 3 seconds AFTER his tornado expires. So he needs to be out of combat for 5.5s.
    2) Polynomicon?
I would say only if you're a trained ADC. It's been buffed and nerfed. If you can hit that attack everytime it could be used. But don't count on your 1-3 combo to actually work with it twice. It has an internal cooldown of 3s, exactly the slow duration. Hit the target ONCE when it's slowed instead, then you may use it after ulting.
    3) Builds I've completed so far:
    ----------
    Basic:
    Warlock Sash
    Shoes of Focus
    Book of Thoth
    Rod of Tahuti
    Spear of the Magus
    Gem of Isolation
    ---
Power: 829 (tornado tick unmitigated: 174)
    Penetration Chain: 20 -> 20% -> 15 (True Damage Threshold: 38)
    HP: 2575/16.2
    MP: 2690/44
    Defense: 73/30
This one makes easy 1-3 combos while dealing tons of damage. The general Kukulkan.
    ----------
    Polynomicon:
    Shoes of the Magi
    Book of Thoth
    Polynomicon
    Rod of Tahuti
    Spear of the Magus
    Gem of Isolation
    ---
    Power: 842 (176, poly 505 unmitigated)
    Lifesteal: 10
    Penetration Chain: 20 -> 20% -> 15 (True Damage Threshold: 38)
    HP: 1975/16.2
    MP: 2840/44
    Defense: 73/30
This one has 600 less health but around the same amount more in damage. IF YOU HIT THE BASIC ONLY. Therefore less reliable but your damage capacity won't be mediocre anymore.
    ---
Optional: Swap Book of Thoth for Warlock's Sash.
    Power: 725 (159/435)
    HP: 2575/16.2
    MP: 2365/29
    ----------
    Bruiser:
    Warlock Sash
    Shoes of Focus
    Breastplate of Valor
    Void Stone
    Rod of Tahuti
    Gem of Isolation
    ---
    Power: 587 (138)
    Penetration: 15
    HP: 2575/16.2
    MP: 2365/29
    Defense: 148/80
Will surprise the enemy burst mage and jungler. Unless it's An00bis. He'll shred you anyway. For him, buy beads, drop tornado on him and watch as he takes 400 + 120% damage from one spell (8 ticks). Free ult on top of that.

Thought I'd have a play around with the basic build and came up with some alternative last items:

    Original:
    Warlock Sash
    Shoes of Focus
    Book of Thoth
    Rod of Tahuti
    Spear of the Magus
    Gem of Isolation

    2575 (16.2) Health
    2690 (44) Mana
    245 AA
    829 Damage
    73/30 Defence
    15% CD

More Power and Mana (but no slow):
    Warlock Sash
    Shoes of Focus
    Book of Thoth
    Rod of Tahuti
    Spear of the Magus
    Ethereal Staff

    2925 (16.2) Health
    2740 (44) Mana
    250 AA
    847 Damage
    73/30 Defence
    15% CD

Defense, Full CD & Most Mana:
    Warlock Sash
    Shoes of Focus
    Book of Thoth
    Rod of Tahuti
    Spear of the Magus
    Breatplate of Valor

    2325 (16.2) Health
    2990 (44) Mana
    232 AA
    768 Damage
    148/30 Defence
    40% CD

I think you're getting spear of the Magus far too late in these builds, it's incredibly powerful as an early game damage item.

I have some mandatory items in my Kukulkan builds:
    1. Shoes of Focus,
    2. Book of Thoth,
    3. Warlock Sash (I don't get this in arena),
    4. Spear of the Magus,
    5. Rod of Tahuti.

6th slot: Chronos Pendant/Breastplate of Valour = max CDR, Polynomicon = better burst and some sustain, Gem of Isolation = Slow.

Another option is max power triple stack style:
    1. Shoes of the Magi,
    2. Warlock Sash,
    3. Book of Thoth,
    4. Doom Orb,
    5. Spear of the Magus,
    6. Rod of Tahuti.

    Also recomended:
    Purple Pot,
    Red Pot,
    Red Buff.

I haven't used this build in any games, since I prefer some/max CDR and/or Polynomicon/Gem of Isolation. Though it is the build that will give the most power (without sacrificing boots) as far as I know. Warlock Sash could be exchanged for Bancrofts Talon, which will give more power below 90% health.

    I almost always build this:

    - Shoes of Magi
    - Warlocks
    - Book
    - Spear
    - GOI/Polynomicon/Chronos
    - Tahuti

    Working out pretty well.

How do you manage with mana without a starter item?

This build seems to work wonders in Arena:
CDR Boots > Thoth (if your team is not a bunch of farm-stealing idiots, if they are build Soul Reaver instead) > Chronos Pendant > Gem of Isolation > Spear of the Magus > Rod of Tahuti
If you nab a squishy with your 1, and they have no escape, ult them. They will die.

Book of Thoth is pretty good without (max) stacks too, so there is no reason not to get it in arena.

If your team is stealing your farm, then book of thoth is near useless as you are not only losing stacks but XP and gold. If your team is taking a few waves here and there, then you can still get it, but if they are completely denying you farm (like my teams often do) you're better off building Soul Reaver, as it helps you take those hp-builders (like Tyr, Bellona, SWK) out.
