I disagree entirely just because someone's active doesn't mean they would be any good at moderation. I'm sure Drybear and the rest of Hirez will get these forums properly moderated soon enough.

HiRez, is this enough information that we need new Moderators? 10% of the current moderators are active. We need active moderators to monitor this forum. The spamming is getting out of hand.

Uh, I don't want to be that guy, but I guess I will be. Everyone assumes that as soon as DB gets on the forum it's going to become a magical place with kittens, rainbows, and what have you, but as nice of a guy as DB is that doesn't exactly equate to "is a good forum mod". Someone can be well versed in the beef industry, and think they can render an informed opinion about E-coli. They can not.

Example they gave fats mod. He's done pretty much nothing with it. I've seen a total of 1 thread deleted so far in the entire time I've been here, and it wasn't even one of the spam post.

So while we can hope that DB cleans up the forum we really shouldn't be pinning all our hopes on him. I respected Limyc on the other forums because he was constantly connected, and closing threads, asking people to watch what they were saying, and still contributed. He was an active mod who was just a fan that had mod powers, and he did more for the forums than almost all of the other HR guys.

TLR We can hope for DB to fix everything, but he hasn't done anything for us yet, and there's no way to be sure he even will since he has a ton of other stuff to do, and HR honestly probably puts these forums under "low" priority.

Like Drybear has stated in the other thread he's currently in the process of moving and while I agree that the forums still could have been handled a little more smoothly in his absence things appear to be looking up for now(at least where the spambots are concerned).

Unless they just fix the register page, moderators could move the spam as soon as it's seen.

For me personally, an important thing for moderating is to make sure threads are where they are supposed to be. If you don't post at the right place, the relevant people might not see it.
