to be honest i feel that very few of us qualify
i mean i got flare mad enough at me to add me to his ignore list or ignore me altogether and i'm obviously a shitty candidate (not at all sarcastic, I hate being a moderator >_>)
several others here aren't cut out for it
there's a few on the top of my heads who should already be modded

A high post count and/or someone who's funny and glamorous shouldn't automatically qualify them to be a moderator. Usually, they just amass a bunch of pals and followers who flatter them a lot, while these people get special pardon and bias treatment from those mods, like when they get into fights with other members of the forum for example. I was a mod once on a former GW1 elite fansite, and I've seen these things happen on a regular basis. Actually, you don't even need to be a mod to see that many don't know how to do their job correctly.
That's something that happens with every leadership role anywhere. It's hardly specific to forum interactions. Obviously pure activity is not a good filter for picking mods. Someone easily be very active and very toxic. The actual quality of their content needs to be taken into account as well. Overall, mods need to try to remain somewhat separate from the community. It's ok to be a part of the community and active, but keep the boundary of professionalism.
