    1. APC is the Tournament Co-Ordinator or something like that, and works with Bart in the E-Sports department. OF COURSE HE'S GOING TO HYPE THE E-SPORTS BIT.

    2. We have had the announcement of the Gem Bonus Weekend, the Ultimate God Weekend and further promotion of the charity donations to the Red Cross. How is that just E-Sports?

I'm not denying it was overhyped, because it was, and it's a little silly. But you guys are making a mountain out of a molehill.

I guess a few people dont realize that Bigger Esports = Bigger Community.

Having a bigger ESport scene will entice sponsors to put money into the game which will get the Smite Name out to people who would have not seen Smite otherwise.
That will grow the Smite Community and will be better for both the pros (who get the direct benefit from bigger ESports) and the casuals (who get the indirect benefit of the bigger community).

In other words, Smite's success in ESports means Smite's success as a game overall.

a huge spoiler though. more skins that are epic like poolsideon to contribute to the prize pool.
If you want assault to be balanced, you're playing it wrong.

You're mine now. Ymir will love you and squeeze you and call you george.

Buy $100 worth of gems and get $15 back, use all Gods for two days, and something we already knew about.

Truly an announcement for the ages.

Prize money for competitive play does not entice new players.
i could maybeee see your point if there is a big advertising campaign tied to all this but i dont see putting big numbers on things people arent already interested in makes them interested.

what makes people interested in a game then? making the game good.
i personally heard about smite from a friend and throughout the beta the majority of the playerbase grew strictly from word of mouth. "this is such an amazing game you need to play it"

now that smite is out of beta it is open for reviews ect. and people will read titles like "a fresh look on MOBA's makes for a truly amazing experience"

the community does not trickle down from esports. the community builds up the esports

I'm so upset... I was hoping for an arachne rework, a map rework or something amazing! I don't care about e-sports. Why should I care about money I'm not winning? I like to play this game for fun, and I was extremely excited for the siege map, so I was expecting something along those lines. Oh well.

correct me if im wrong but that is essentially what you are arguing here
A little bit of that happens but thats not the most of the benefit happens.

It is more the advertisement and exposure that comes by having more sponsors or bigger sponsors in Smite.
(Also, more money for HiRez will mean a better game)

Incredibly potent analysis and criticisms. Your chagrin is well founded MrDonoman. Thanks for your wonderful input.
