A simple Question: Items for each Class

What kind of items should I be going for, in general, for each class?

    Mages: Power
    Assassins: Power and pen
    ADC(hunters): Power and Attackspeed
    Warriors: Hp, Defence, Cooldown
    Guardians: Hp, Defence Cooldown

    Mages:
Due to high scaling on abilities you want Power. You also need 1-2 Penetration items as Protection greatly reduce your dmg output.
You need to decide if you need other items like Cooldown and Lifesteal, depending on the character and the match. In general if the enemy have a lot of tanks or character who builds tanky, you can go Cooldown/lifesteal or Protections as you know fights are gonna last long.
---Mage build: Shoes of The Magi, Bancroft Talon, Spear of Desolation, Soul Reaver...with this build you gain
a lot of power and some pen

Assassins: can burst squishes fast. Building power and, pen helps them do this. Thor and Ratatorsk are characters who go well with hybrid builds as their burst drops in late game. You can go items like Mantle of Discord, Breatsplate of Valor and some magic defence it you want to survive a little longer.
Kali, Arachne and Baka rely on hitting their basics. Hastend Katana is a must item on Kali and Baka as they need to stick to the enemy, because their abilites dont do much dmg
---Assassin build: Warrior Tabi, Crusher, Jotunn, Brawlers...power and pen
---Kali build: Warrior Tabi, Hastend Katana, Executioners, Quin Sais, Stone Cuting
    Sword
    ...attackspeed and power

ADC(hunters): Hunters job is to dish out tons of damage. Because they have range, having attackspeed and power helps them do this best.
You should balance the build, as having to little attackspeed cripples you when you need to fight and having to much attackspeed and no power means you wont do any damage.
---ADC build: Transcendence, Warrior Tabi, Executioners Asi, Quin Sais... with this build you get a lot
of power and attackspeed and the penetration you need

Warriors: frontliners job is to bully the enemy. They do this well cause their abilites are easy to land and hit hard. Therefor it is good to build tanky and have some cooldown.
You want physcial and magical protection, one damage item and the rest should be defence or hp.
---Warrior build: Warrior Tabi, Breastplate of Valor, Pestilence, Jotunns Wrath, Winged-blade... now
you have a lot of defence, hp and max cooldown

Guardians: your job is to be as tanky as possible as your job is both to engage the enemy team and defend yours. Building as tanky as you can ensures you will do this and survive for as long as possible
Its usually great to pick up Aura items too as it increase the stats of your team.
---Aura build: Shoes of the Focus, Sovereignty, Heartward, Breast Plate of Valor, Pestilence...with this
build you are very tanky, have protection aura around you and decent amount of cooldown

For both Warriors and Guardians, to be tanky you need Protections and HP in your build.
Usually you also want to go physcial defence before magical as minions and tower hit for physcial damage and hit very hard early game
All damage dealers need pen if they wanna be successful in their job and must buy one of the items below or their build will be highly ineffective.
Assassins should buy at least 1 pen as their 2nd or 3rd items(Jotunn Wrath, Crusher, brawlers Beat stick, Titans bane)
Hunters should buy pen as their 3rd or 4th item(Executioners, Titans bane)
Mages should buy pen as their 3rd or4th item(Divine ruin, Spear of the Magus, Spear of Desolation)

Another thing to keep in mind is what enemy team is and what your team is.

If enemy has a lot of auto attackers, say, sol, merc, erlang. Witch blade is really good as defensive item.

If enemy has lots of phys, sover is good. If enemy has loads of magical aoe that is hard to stop, say zhong, puch, zeus heartward is good.

If your team has magical adc (like chronos, sol) a burst mid mage like nu wa and a guardian its a good idea to get void stone. Similarly void shield is good, if enemy doesn't build hybrid tank or have a sover void shield will make ure assass and warrior combo slaughter enemy backline.

Finally executioner for the hunter is not only for themself. It reduces enemy prots so your warrior and assass can deal much better dmg on the target. If the enemy tank gets pelted by you(r) adc the warrior and assass in your team can probably focus them, deal great dmg and even kill them. (note demonic works the same way on a magical adc).

Spear of magus similarly is a great magical dps support item. Any God with dot abilities (zhong, puch, merlin etc) can wield this and setup great dmg from either their guardian, their magical adc or well themselves. Take note some guardians deal lot of dmg so this item can be really powerful, imagine merlin + jorg. Same time if your guardian is likely to initiate first with all they got and you come after, say a geb + agni combo, spear is not that good. Better for geb to have void stone to increase agnis follow up. In general spear of magus is a team item, you are better off going deso, obs shard and just power if you are the only real magical threat on your own team.

When building all these items it is very important to imagine how fights will go. Exec on neith for example can be great some games if you are confident you can challenge their frontline and have follow up from your warrior or assass. But if its a game where its really hard for you to move up as neith, like your team will all dive backline and you can't follow cause you will likely die to their awilix, and rather rely on just sitting back, using ult and skills, running out and in on crucial moments, Titans is much better as you won't have time to get benefit from exec stacks.

I agree with Rockybaby here but i dont think you should think to much about counter building and item choices that support your team like Voidshield before you understand the game better

yeah I was just gonna explain why exec is so crucial on hunters at first but then it all evolved into a lengthy post.

    tldr: build exec on hunters.

It just really depends on the group makeup, and your opponents. If my opponents are cc heavy, I'll Magi Cloak and try to build 40% cc mitigation as tank. Sometimes as DPS I'll equip aura as well, but it's a good idea to see your team mates equipment so you can synergy with what they have on.
