Ranked Arena

So,

Since the necro thread that put this idea back on the table was closed (as it should have been), what are your thoughts on having ranked arena?

Also, why do we have ranked joust lol ? It seems pointless considering the fact that more people play arena.

Come on, I know there are tons of arena players out there, lets be honest. Explain why you would or would not like this.

that would be against the spirit of arena. and it would be extremely boringly cancerous. i dont wanna play a ranked game where only viable comp is ares+odin+zeus+morrigan+(insert aoe ult mage here).

There was Ranked Arena already and it was removed and it was all about camp fest basically what both teams did was kill minions and never fight and when there was left only few points there was one team fight wich decided the winners

Not sure what the " spirit of the arena" is, maybe someone can explain that.

As far as teams spending the entire match killing minions, I don't see that as something that couldn't be alleviated with a few tweaks.

If Hi-Rez can create MOTD and tweak arena on special occasions there shouldn't be a problem adjusting game play to prevent stagnation.

It might just be a matter of adjusting the benefits of engaging rather than killing minions overall.

technically that was a problem with the mode, not a flaw with ranked. The mode actively encourages that type of behavior, the only difference is how much people care about winning, which of course, ranked brought out the ones that wanted to win the most, which resulted in degrading player behavior due to the map/mode encouraging that degrading behavior.

instead of fixing the mode, which is what they should have done, they simply removed ranked to discourage the players that would exhibit the behavior that is *still* being encouraged by the mode - that is the behavior that is required if you wanted to play it the way it is designed to be played, and then win with any reliability.

That being said. Coudl give a shit about ranked arena. I just think its funny the "solution" was to remove a feature instead of fix a mode.

Why would you hope for there to never be ranked arena? If you don't play it how would it affect you personally?

Ranked Arena would need some tweaks-

Minions no longer deduct points except for the Big One at the end.

Different types of kills would deduct a different number of tickets. Chaining kills (ie double triple etc) deduct extra, first blood deducts extra, etc etc.

Agree. If they take one lane of Siege and run it throughout Arena, including the potential for a Siege Minion spawn only once, when a team reaches X points (hence whomever reaches first is a benefit), it could work.
