If this is the game of the gods and you could have Hindu gods, Japanese god and etc where's Jesus, that's just not fair to all other faiths no isn't it

1) Hi-Rez has to be EXTREMELY careful when adding in new characters from pantheons/religions that are still actively worshipped. (see note on number 2)

2) The backlash from the religious community would more than likely the warrant the removal of said character. [Research the fact that Hi-Rez had to completely rework Kali from her original design due to backlash from the religious community]

3) Christianity, is technically speaking...not a pantheon. (see numbers one and two)

Separate note; Excluding the Hindu pantheon (which as I said is still actively worshipped) every other pantheon is from a civilization that either doesn't exist anymore; or, from a different historical time period.

That is not the reason why they redid Kali. They redid Kali because of their partnership with Tencent from our outside understanding. The backlash from the small protest group didn't affect Kali at all.

there was some controversy over the initial depiction of Kali in the game. the one that started claimed that they "pornified" her, because she was depicted as being scantily clad with her boobs nearly falling out. if they were talking about the minimal attire that she was wearing initially, then it would be hypocritical of them since hindu iconography constantly depicts men and women naked and in comprising positions. I think what most people are missing is that perhaps, they weren't referring to the way she was dressed, but because Hi-rez designed her with large breasts and accentuated hips, which is akin to how women are portrayed in contemporary culture, especially in pornography. maybe based on that comparison, they said that it was "pornification", although this is just my interpretation of the situation since there's no actual mention of what they meant by "pornification".
but it is true that Hi-rez IS being sensitive with the inclusion of Hindu gods in the game. despite this, this doesn't stop them from including prominent gods such as Ganesha and Rama. but despite THAT, Hi-rez did say that they were being respectful with the former's depiction because they are aware that there are some people that's still worshipping him. if you noticed, Ganesha never makes any farcical or sexual jokes like the other gods as to not upset to many people. not to mention that, unlike the other gods, he is somewhat depicted with respect.
and regardless of what reason they actually changed Kali, she would've gotten a VU eventually because her model would've become outdated at some point. although I can't blame them for making the new look more decent.
I should also say that the controversy was not limited to just Kali. it also surrounded all of the gods, namely Agni and Vamana, because the entirety of the Hindu pantheon is a sensitive subject to begin with. Bakasura was probably not included because he's a demon... and a bad guy... and nobody likes bad guys.

very true...I knew about the other Hindu gods getting some flak for just being in the game...but Kali was the one I heard about the most due to the "sexualization" thing creating a religious debachle

Shintoism isn't historical at all. Many people worship it in Japan today. Most of Japan is either shinto or shinto - Buddhist.

that may be true, but it isn't as powerful of a religion as it was in the past.

Hinduism though is far more active. Hi-Rez tries to be careful when they add those gods into the game. Before Ganesha, Ravana was the last Hindu god released, and that was almost 2 years before Ganesha.

Really the main argument is that Christianity (Or other Jesus featuring religions such as Jewdaism) isn't a Pantheon.

Unless they decide to try and turn what few notable characters from the faith (Gabriel, Lucifer, Azazel, Lilith, Auriel, Samson, perhaps David could be a Hunter?) into gods.

It then leaves the fact that it's highly unlikely that Jesus would be a character, due to how upset it would make a LOT of people. Not only because of the religious aspect, but also because no-one will want to deal with his BS self res you KNOW he'd get in his kit...
