'Converting' Items

When items like Book of Thoth & Ethereal Staff 'convert' mana/health to power, do you actually lose the mana/health when it is converted (ie with Ethereal Staff - if you have 2000 HP will it drop to 1950 HP to give you 50 MP or will you still keep 2000 HP?) Obviously either way it's still a great benefit but just curious to know.

You misunderstand.

Ethereal gives you extra power based on the hp you have, so you get 400 health, 300 mana and 30 base magical power from the item, and ontop of that you gain bonus power that's equal to 2.5% of your max hp, it doesn't take away anything
Same with thoth, but it gives extra bonus power based on your mana.

Thanks that's good to know. They should probably change the wording because by saying '2.5% of your maximum health is converted to magical power' implies that it does actually 'convert' not just give.

Yea it is weird wording, but no, you do not lose stats for buying % conversion items.
