Console patches

I don't understand why it takes TWO WEEKS for the console patch updates? Why can't it happen simultaneously with PC?

No one is entirely sure, but be glad we are at this point. Console used to be around two months behind PC in patches. I'll take two weeks of waiting to get a patch over two months dealing with issues.

Oh wait that's right, I think part of the reason is Sony.

They tend to have issues with patch updates for other games (*coughWarframecough*) due to reasons?

Hi-Rez won't let the patch go live on one console, while the other is still figuring stuff out. Which explains why the last 2 patches were like a day late (normally patches hit on Tuesdays).

All games with updates like Smite and Warframe have to go through a certification process to make sure the incoming data won't bug out and do something like...brick your console or erase your data or anything like that.

I think there's less updates to games on console because people don't want to sit there and wait for their game to update. Plus it's a more casual system.

some games this is true...other games it isn't

one game i can think of where we don't always get every patch each time it hits is Ark Survival Evolved, often we will get one patch on console that is actually like 3-5 patches on pc

He means since games like Ark and Warframe have near weekly patches or something, they have to bundle the updates up to the most recent if possible for consoles which takes added time.

actually ark and warframe tend to only update like once a month if that...with ark, pc gets 4-5 patches before console sees one, and the one we get is their last 3-5 patches before this most recent update. warframe...yea i think they update every week, but consoles take like a month to get them *coughSonyHasIssuescough*

Sony can definitely improve. They should be more proactive like Microsoft. But it's in their philosophy, they're pretty neutral.

they take their time when working the stuff from patches over from pc to their console...xbox doesn't take very long, since for the most part everything ports well with Windows 10...
