She's not in a good spot, however if you can get a team that can protect you, then you can be decent with her. I usually build her very tanky with high magic damage items like Rod of Tahuti. I would stay with the team or teammate during most of the round

I'm gonna have to agree with Zodiac. She is unbelievably squishy and can be snuffed out in the blink if an eye of the enemy sees ur in a vulnerable spot or alone. She's generally gonna be the first target(especially for assassins) because everyone knows how squishy she is and Unlike other mages who can get away with it, I recommend building her with a bit of defense to supplement for her lack of durability. And as a Hel, you should pretty much ALWAYS stay with the team or at least one other teammate unless you absolutely can't. Alone, you're pretty much a sitting duck. But by having a teammate who can peel for you, you can use them to crank out massive burst damage without the focus being on you and of course the heals and cleanse make u a great support too. Not to mention, despite having one of the highest, if not the highest base Mana in the game, her rapid succession of spells makes her incredibly mana hungry. Grab a blue buff whenever u can!

got a build and style you can try. minimal agression hel, super healing, unkillable, power hel.
during the ending of season 2 i faced a hel in duel, clearly 1v1. neith vs hel and won. aside from neith i believe hel may-be unkillable.
    build:
    shoes of magi
    breastplate
    mantle of discord
    desolation
    bancroft's talon
(situational) depending on whether you are facing physical or magical you want to grab the extra protection item. 3 protection items and 3 power items would be the best outcome for hel in any matter. whether full cdr, power, etc. try this build and style and let me know how it works for you. note: you can't be too agressive or you will die and fall behind in levels. and the build will fail harshly until endgame.

The best is to stay behind your team and heal them. Just make sure everyone is aware that someone like Loki will definitely go for her.
We now need Kevin Sorbo as Kevin Sorbo in the game.

What StarLord said sit in the backline heal and clense cc. You can use the dark stance when a target is running or it's a 1v1 although a 1v1 is still a bit risky.

    I think core items are:

    Rod of heal thing
    Breastplate
    Void stone

allround nice tank, good cdr, nice pene that stacks with your 2.

meditation is great for active in most modes once you start to cycle them spells the mana goes quickly, med gives most back and you can stay so much longer.

Your peak is earlymid to mid game, take objectives with your team with your incredible push.

Come late stay safe, getting another MS item (or 2) to be able to position properly quickly (like far back) is of great value on hel. Put on the slow on their team, heal yours so they can outmove them and then go in and out when you can to deal damage.

Learn to self cleanse before they land cc and you are very hard to catch.

I agree with MS items for Hel. That's where I have been most successful. Getting in and out quickly and having the ability to chase or escape. Plus all the MS items add health.
