Basic Attack (Special)

Osiris duel wields his Sickle and Flail, with a 4 hit attack sequence of 0.5/1/0.5/1s, where the last two hits deal damage to all enemies in the melee area.

[*=1]Each time Osiris uses an ability he burns away a fragment of his body, gaining 2% physical damage mitigation for each missing fragment. After losing 8 fragments, he becomes his Spirit form. While in Spirit form he may walk through enemies and enemy blockers, and his basic attacks do not incur a movement penalty. This effect lasts for 6 successful basic attacks.

The tether can be broken by targets moving far enough away from Osiris. Targets still in range after 4s, when the duration expires, are stunned for 2s. Cooldown 18s. Cost 60/65/70/75/80.

[*=1]Osiris sheds any remaining fragments, immediately gaining the benefit of his passive, and leaps forward. Osiris will target the lowest health god in the area he lands and rip a fragment of their spirit out, dealing 300/400/500/600/700 +100% of his physical power as damage. Additionally, the target god can not receive healing from any source for the next 6s, until their spirit returns. Enemy minions and neutral jungle camps in the target area take double damage from this ability. Cooldown 90. Cost 100.


New League System

With this patch we are launching a new League system, incorporating many of the requested changes from our community, and many of the features that have come to be expected in competitive ranked gaming. Highlights:


Tiers and Division

There are now six Tiers in the league system. Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, and Masters.
Each Tier has 5 Divisions, except for Masters, which has only one.
The system is designed such that only the top 2% of players will make it to the Masters Tier.


Earning Tribute

The old system of top-10 games has been removed.
Winning league games will earn Tribute Points, and losing league games will deduct Tribute Points.
The amount of Tribute you gain or lose per game is based on your hidden MMR rating, and that of the other players in your match.


Advancement and Demotion:

After earning 100 Tribute, your next win will advance you up to a new Division, and reset your Tribute to 0.
If you lose a game at 0 Tribute, you will drop down a Division. Note, there is a grace period after a promotion that you will not drop.


Seasons, Rounds, and Starting:

Once you are level 30, and have achieved mastery level on 16 gods, you can compete in the League system.
All new players will start in Bronze V.
A Season is roughly a year long (roughly coinciding with the the World Championship events), and broken into multiple Rounds, each two months long.
At the end of a Round players are awarded trophies and League player icons, based upon Tier and Division placement.
At the start of a new Round Tribute is reset to 0. However, players remain in the division they placed from the Round. A players MMR rating is not reset on a Round change.
At the start of a new Round, returning players must play at least one game to be placed back on the leaderboards.
If you are idle in League for more than 30 days, your Tribute will start to decay, as will your MMR.
Players in the Masters Tier will continue to gain Tribute past 100, and will be ranked based on their current totals. Special player icons are awarded for the Masters top 100, 50, 10, and 1 players each Round.


Conversion from current system:

All players will be starting over in the new League system. We discussed several possible conversion routes between the Tiers, but given the extreme differences, we feel it is most fair to restart everyone fresh.
Players will retain all trophies earned from the previous league system. They will be denoted with unique emblems.




New Game Mode: Siege BETA

Siege is a two lane conquest-style map, with standard towers, phoenixes, and Titans as objectives. As a new feature, teams will earn points towards spawning Siege Weapons as they play.



Killing a player is worth 5 points, a minion worth 1 point, and a jungle camp worth 9 points.
Once a team reaches 100 points, a friendly Siege Weapon will spawn and proceed down a lane towards enemy objectives.
Siege Weapons are kind of like Minions, except that they have massive amounts of health, deal more damage to objectives, and will prioritize objectives over other targets.
Players may teleport to a friendly Siege Weapon at any time, by entering the portal located in their base.
Kill the silver fury in the middle of the map, and you will immediately spawn a Siege Weapon for your team.


Siege is in the very early stages of development, and we expect a lot of changes and revisions to it over the next several months. We look forward to hearing your feedback from this early Beta look!

In Assault, you can now purchase a “re-roll” of your randomly selected god for 250 favor (or 25 gems). This is done in the match lobby.

Modified the artistic treatment and placement of the “Level Up” notification in match.
For new users, the Main Menu and Play Menu now have tutorials upon first arriving in the game.
A few minor cleanups and bug fixes have been made to Custom Matches.

Fixed a crash condition that would occur upon match accept for some users.

Addressed an issue with players losing their mouse cursor when entering match lobby.
The download size of the game for new users has been optimized.

When in assisted or directed camera mode, the view no longer finds a new target when a player blinks or teleports to another player/tower.

osiris will be very strong imo.. that 3 just seems like it will be quite very strong if you can move, and use skill during it... the passive is a pretty awesome escape and/or kill secure... the ult is pure anti-heal power... the kit feels like an assassin rather than a warrior imo

Nice patch overall, let's see how well Osiris works and if he's op or not.
Only thing I really don't like, is the re-roll thing in Assault. The funny thing about Assault was, that you had to play with the god assigned to you, even if it's your worst.... So I really don't understand the change here but okay....

I don't see that many people using re-roll since there was quite bitching about the high price of it. 250 favor or 25 gems is quite high seeing as it's only 1 time use.

Early next week meaning 5/7 or 5/12. I heard these 2 dates, not confirmed, however.

indeed the only ppl that would use that are those mega hardcore players that played from closed beta for nearly 24 hours per day erning around 2.86mil or so fav by now according to my math then again my math is not that great so this value could be either somewhat lower or much larger using my basic 3 - 6 games per day from about the start of closed beta to now with some brakes here and there im at 162k favor ihavea friend thats a bit more hardcore and did 7 - 17 games per day and he is around 1.1 mil and he is telling me he has a hardcore friend that plays twice/ almost thrice as much as he does so yeah...

Though it's sad to see nothing for Arachne. She is my favorite god, but she needs a lot of help. I hope you guys look into her soon (And keep her as a great jungler, don't change her to support or something)

Honestly I feel like they nerfed Ullr a little to much. I would have chosen a shorter stun OR a slower projectile not both now its just gonna be useless IF you can even hit it. Just my opinion though.

Osiris Patch

Preliminary thoughts, subject to change with discussion and playing the patch.

--------Osiris

Hit Chain: 2 AOEs at the end of his chain, pretty nice; should be good for clearing and maybe even jungling.

Passive: Alright so Osiris is all about the basic attack, but it'll take a while to get to his full passive, even crazier is it is 6 successful basic attacks until he loses spirit form. So you could conceivably go spirit form and stay it in and play as a caster for a while for support or to kill enemies.

Sickle Strike: The damage is pretty good on its own, what's crazy is the 5s CD. Meaning you can poke someone very well with this ability, especially with the cheap 30 mana cost. The slow will go well with a basic attack heavy build.

Spirit Flail: A strong combination with the Sickle, but because of the 10s CD you can only do it once every 2 Sickles. Still with the low CD and the ability to slow 50% every 10 seconds, this will be a strong harass and set up for himself and teammates. The damage itself is pretty good and the MS boost will allow him to stick to gods strongly while in Spirit form.

Judgement Tether: Now here's the ability that concerns me. All warriors need an ability that makes them hard to kill, but they always border on too much. Osiris sticks very well to gods and with this ability on top of his other abilities will have him glued to a single god and beat them to death horribly. With a group of gods around him, he'll be able to absorb a lot of damage and distract plenty of gods like a Guardian does. This ability may be fine, it may actually be best used for finishing and escapes, than as a form of distraction.

Lord of the Afterlife: Pretty much, unless the target of this ult has an escape, they will die to Osiris. He'll leap in on them and prevent healing while slowing and stunning them to death with his other abilities. It will also be a useful finish since it is a leap, then he can use his slows and tethers to run escape from situations.

Overall: Osiris' early clear is weak, but it should be better as he builds up. His real strength will come in the mid-late game when he's able to effectively glue himself to an enemy god and basic them to death or keep them slowed down for others to finish.

Note: Does anyone know how much HP GF and FG have? Because he can deal 1400+ damage with his ultimate at them. Is that enough to steal those camps regardless of WoG? That's the question I have about that ult and the double damage.

------- The New Siege Beta Mode

The mode looks interesting. From what I've seen so far it concerns me about snowballing though.

------ League Changes based on the Dev Q/A There are 26 Tiers; Bronze 5-1, Silver 5-1 and so on to Diamond 5-1; then finally Masters which is the top 2%. Everyone starts at Bronze 5.

They take into account your MMR when it comes to Tiers, so if your MMR is higher than where you are then they'll give you more points to rank up. So Diamond Players thanks to MMR should climb out of Bronze faster than others.

MMR should have a good affect on your Tier, so we'll see how that goes. MMR affects who you're matched with, not your Tier. So Silver player with Gold MMR will fight Gold players.

If you get demoted, you don't start back at 0, you start at 70 in the lower Tier. Lobby Dodge straight up counts as a loss.

There are no promotion matches.

There is decay, If you're gone for 30 days, you lose a point per day gone after that, never below 0.

Ranks are Global

Less than 5% of the total population of Smite played League Conquest.

I am going into League optimistic, but I'm sure it'll need some fine tuning.

----------- Skins

Blind Vengeance Nemesis : Assassin time

-------- General Being able to reroll in Assault...how will healers affect this? It's a nice idea, but that is certainly a concern for me. Healers don't guarantee wins, but they certainly give a team an edge.

-------- More General Mid furies spawn every 3 minutes now. I am happy with this, there is too much focus on the mid furies. This will allow Junglers and Supports to roam and support teammates more. The camps will still have a lot of combat, but it was too stifling to have to be there every 2 minutes. Glad I didn't do new guides yet, because this is pretty important for Mid/Support/Jungler.

--------God Balance

Hel Bug fix: THAT EXPLAINS A LOT. Her numbers didn't feel right in combat, but I couldn't pinpoint the reason.

Ullr Nerf: Ullr's movement speed has been nerfed by 10 points while his stun nerf goes down by .4; so he does 1.4 stun max. Also the axe throw is 110 instead of 140. Bart's justification is that he is able to survive very well, so this is a move to give him less survivability. Makes sense to me. As far as damage goes, he should still be able to burst people down nearly as well as he did before. I think this is fine, Ullr should still be a strong god.

Zeus Nerf:
15 less flat damage and 6% less scaling overall on his Detonate Charge. This is a fine nerf for Zeus. He does good damage and this certainly brings him down a bit, but he'll still have a good burst.

Summary: Not much to say about the Siege Mode until we can actually play it, from what I've seen snowballing is my current concern. Assault reroll is nice, but what does this do in relation to Healers? Ullr and Zeus Nerfs are fine, they'll still be strong gods. I have no problems with this patch at all so far.

I was afraid I'd hate Osiris model. I'm so glad I was wrong. He's AMAZING! The skills look all pretty nice and well. Sprint and Winged Wand are his doom, as well as Combat Blink. He has no mobility whatsoever (unlike other OP warriors) and the only way to stick to his targets is by slowing them, and slow is easily counterable. The defense mitigation seems irrelevant and probably will not last long. I'm worried about Tank Osiris, though. His 3 seems amazing in teamfights.

His damage is heavily concentrated on a single target, so I don't think he will be able to kill a whole team. He also has no means of sustain nor any kind of passive buff. I'd call him balanced on paper.

And with the raising numbers of healing negating items / abilities, there needs to be an activate that buffs healing / cancels healing debuffs!

I'm glad to see the league system revised a new mode and a new god added but I would like to see some stability in the game of Smite for certain things rather then constant change. Anyways thanks Mr HighRezDryBear for the update. :)

amazing this siege mode, guys i need to tell my sugestion. I think that SMITE can have ANOTHER great bonus to take mythology as his source. Im talking about the Ancient *Dota2, Nexus *loL and the titans at SMITE. At SMITE the titan is a generic being. My sugestion is that we could use the greatest badass at all mythologys like Cronos or Tifon, Surtur, Asura, Apep and Jade Emperor and that will be the last pick of the team but will be controlled by the computer like the actual titan, any of them will have exclusives powers *like activate the defense at dota2* to defend his base that can combo with this team or be a counter of the enemys team. Well i sincerely hope that you guys like my sugestion and if dont you could use this just to make a rework of the titans. Sorry about any errors but english is not my native language.

Well... Nemesis no longer can heal from minions. No one plays her as solo. In duo lane Nemesis isn't picked as a tanky/bruiser one. Everyone plays Nemesis in the jungle and now she have a ninja skin.

Why don't make her an assassin? She's no longer a warrior. :confused:

Great patch anyways. Maybe Zeus won't get banned that much in ranked after those changes... But I can't say for sure.
And Osiris... I saw the live and everyone said that he's way too OP, but I don't think so. He's a great warrior but he have no sustain. He's quite fine in theory for what I saw earlier, but I think he's going the same ways Nemesis did. I had that feeling that everyone will play Osiris in the jungle (or as a support) more frequently than solo.

because if they made her an assassin she'd have assassin stats and would need to have her abilities re-balanced

there's no hard and fast rule where if someone's a jungler they have to be an assassin, or that if someone's a warrior they have to play the solo lane

So I can just imagine Osiris in a team fight hitting half of their team at the same time with his AOE hits with Qins... RIP anyone within arms reach.
Also, is this a new thing for Warrior classes to actually be Assassins? He has a slow, more slow, a speed buff, a stun and a leap that targets the lowest health God and does SO much damage, its an epic execute.

:::After reading the abilities in depth I notice that the Tether says it targets 'All Enemies'. That better be a typo because if you can tether to all the lane minions, FG, GF, Titan... thats not right. HAS to be a typo.
Also, would Osiris get his move speed buff if he hits a Minion under the effect of Sickle Strike?:::

Oh, for f***'s sake. The game has been growing constantly since 2012. It has been alive for more than a year already and currently there are no signs it's about to die. Quit the drama until actual concerns show up.

As for your points however, I have a few things to say.

1.) We have not tested Osiris yet, can't say he's OP. Seems very strong, but he also lacks any form of sustain, seems to have very mediocre clear, his only hard CC requires 4 seconds to apply and his mobility is limited to a short jump with his ult and a situational speed boost that requires him to land two abilities. He certainly has his weaknesses as well as strengths.

2.) Clan premades can not be larger than 3 man groups, and to be perfectly honest most of them aren't that good. I don't see how this is a problem as of now. (Note, this is for Conquest, for all I know the situation could be different in other modes.)

Whatever the case, unnecessary drama is unnecessary and makes issues sound far more serious than they are. If you're ever coming back to this forum, please keep it down.

On Zeus, I'm not sure the damage is really as big an issue as his range. I'm thinking specifically of the range on chain lightning, which allows Zeus to have about double the range of other mages. He can hit an opposing mage who is behind their own creeps back line, while that mage can barely hit the frontline of Zeus's creeps.

Also Osiris looks too beefy to me. He should be slimmed down a lot so that he looks more like Loki than he looks like Hercules.

Thank you for fixing the Athena bug. That was annoying.

Man 250 favor for re-roll in assault it's almost the double of what you get with the first win of the day. It has no sens, you re-roll cause you want to win, but if you win after gettin a re-roll, you wont have favor. So???

he doesnt have a cripple in his kit so his tether will be broken by anyone with a jump/be another beads check, slows are nothing with sprint3, otherwise he looks like an interesting god and I really hope he is someone I pick up.

An answer is only as useful as the persons opinion of its usefulness. The feature is useful, you just wont find it useful. You are thinking its an excuse to only play 1 god and just re-roll so that you can play that god. Its used to stop you getting mad if you have played and mastered a god that you know for a fact you dislike playing and there is no reason for you to play them so that you can have more fun. Its not to 'Buy' wins.

I usually say it's best to wait until the day of the patch and give it an extra week to see if a new god is OP or not. But in some cases (just like Nemesis), it doesn't take a genius to know that the new god is OP.

Let's discuss about some of the abilities and why Osiris will be an OP god.

Rant mode [ON]/[OFF]

Passive-
He loses a fragment everytime he uses an ability.
Now before I even go any further, let me stop you here and tell you that this basically means spamming your ability in base and walking out of it in ethereal form before you even go into the fight. Ok well it's not a big deal right I mean other MOBAs also have characters like these who causes an additional effect after X amount of spell casts so it should be fairly balanced right?
Well how does 16% physical damage mitigation sounds like? Not to mention being able to run though blocking abilities is a big middle finger to some gods like Ymir and Odin.

The proper way to have balanced this passive is either:
1. you only lose fragments when you hit an enemy target with abilities (AKA no more spamming in base).
2. you have a timer on the passive for how long you stay in ethereal form. You lose the ethereal form when your timer expires of you land 6 basic attacks, whichever comes first.
3. OR have both of the above.


Sickle strike
Ok... just what the fish?
I know this ability is very similar to Thana and Thana's death scythe is clearly much stronger, BUT 5s cooldown...
Really? So what you can spam this every 3 seconds now with max CDR?


Spirit flail
I'm somewhat ok with this because it is kinda balanced as long as the CDR on sickle is increased.


Judgement tether
Another ability that is highly questionable and things like these makes you wonder if Hi-rez was drunk when they made Osiris.
It's a large AOE ability that reduces your damage immediately by 30% (at max rank) and another 20%, making it a total of 50% if you don't get out of range in time.
An ability that deals 2000 damage will merely deal 1000. And I haven't even included the passive damage mitigation in this.
To top it off you get stunned for 2 seconds. That is longer than so-called 1.8s OP stun that Ullr can put out and Osiris can even stun multiple gods.
This is the kind of ability that should be an ult, rather than a 3rd ability which you can spam every 18 seconds.

I can't even think of a proper balance for this because of how broken it is currently but some things that could be changed is:

Option 1
The extra 5% damage reduction per second is clearly excessive on an already very strong ability. It has to go...
AND instead of reducing the damage output of your tethered targets, make it so that they only deal reduced damage to Osiris instead.
Meaning if you tether someone and your target turns around to use an ult like Tempest or Kraken, Osiris will be the only one that takes 30% less damage, and not the team behind you.

Option 2
You gain protections when you tether and gain more as you stay tethered. This option, just like the above one will also mean that you're not effectively crippling the enemy team's damage output. They will only deal less to you. That plus the fact that Osiris can now be countered with penetration items.

Option 3
Keep it the way it is but the tether will be something like a straight line skill shot that can only hit ONE enemy god.

The way it is now with Osiris, unless you have a leap or a dash, I don't think you will be getting out of the tether due to the permanent slow.
Oh who am I kidding because Osiris's ultimate is:


Lord of the afterlife
As if slowing you, slowing you even further and stunning you isn't enough, he can also leap after you, prevent you from healing up, move through obstacles that you put up, all at the same time while hitting you constantly because of the extra speed from the spirit flail.

I can't even think of any active that can effectively counter him because he is like Nemesis V2 but only tankier.
If you buy sprint/curse, he can also buy sprint/curse as well so that doesn't really work out.
If you buy beads/combat blink.... 5s (or less with max CDR) on the slow sickle. You will only be able to escape him once at best. Good luck with that.

Ha. And I thought Nemesis was the most OP duelist they ever introduced when they first released her but this...
Osiris is anti-healer, anti-ADC and anti-mage.
He will most likely be able to duel bruisers and beat them due to his ridiculous amounts of damage mitigation and the only thing left that he won't be able to easily kill is tanks.
With that said, if you can counter about 90% of the gods in game, you know you've created an OP god.

Only his ulti is OP, but that is mitigated by a 1min 1/2 cooldown. His passive could have great uses, but the performance of this god will depend more about how good its player is, otherwise it's a waste.

And the trend seems to be, new gods always OP untill they nerf it.

Anywho, nearly every game I have played has either had AT LEAST one troll/leaver/afker/feeder/really bad player that is borderline troll. And nearly every game I get matched against premade tryhards, level 30s, gold leaguers or clan premade tryhards. The matchmaking is worse than LoL's, and that's saying something.

I started playing last week, and every fucking game I get these kind of people, often all at once. Why should I play this game if I get a troll every game that purposley makes us lose and messes with us all, and HiRez does nothing to rid us of them. I like this game, I really do, but untill they fix the matchmaking, there is zero reason to play, all it will do is make me rage as I waste 30 minutes of my life every round for no reason other than to lose because someone on my team.

Nope. Same as with Domination; No one played it. I could spend entire evenings trying to get a game but just keep getting hit by "Could not place you in a match".

The fact of the matter is that no one played arena league. It's not worth having a slot for it if no one is going to play it. If siege stays popular, I could see it taking the place of arena league. But as it stands, Arena league just isn't popular enough.

another person who just comes in to post their thoughts without consideration of anything in the post.... his stun and ult damage were nerfed, its a 1.2 second stun, you must stick to them for 4 seconds and you have no cripple or other hard cc... he has hp that is lower than half of the assassins , low resistances, no form of sustain, and honestly he works harder for his slows than anyone else....

my biggest question mark comes actually with the assault change for rerrolling, 250 favor or 25 gems, i dunno about the gem compartement but even with First win of the day you never get that 250 favor out of it atleast in my experience.

edit: Personally i like the random part of the mode, and while rerolling helps some people to change gods they dislike. I believe a trade option would also have been nce, that you can change with others from the team instead.

The "new" league changes will most likely make me quit the game. I have been playing a long time and put a lot of money into this game, gem packs and god pack. But i feel like was betrayed by the new changes. after 2 months of grinding league I made it to gold and I was exited to keep up my hard work and you just reset it. You rest elo and league rankings. Stripped me of the work I put into my account, why would I want to grind out though the bad elo again. We cant que with our friends to play ranked so the process is to long. You have lost yourself a dedicated player because you didn't care to think about the people who were trying to rank up in your league system.
