I have been looking and it seems to be impossible(?).

A great feature would be to add a "spectate" sub section where you can watch the games from LANs and the top tier(s) ranked league games without having anyone on your friend list.

As far as I know you can type /spectate playername in the Lobby/System chat tab to spectate someone.

This would be a nice addition.

That would be awesome. Especially if it didn't make you wait like 5 mins before going in to spectate

Great idea, this could be put in the TV tab.

You can spectate people that aren't on your friends list. Just go to the system tab at the bottom of the menu and type in /Spectate followed by the username of whoever it is you want to watch.

That's a hazzle and will not promote competitive play. If they did what riot did with the league client that would be awesome and allow people to watch games before entering a game and learn how to play. It would also be great for the people that wants to watch matches, but hates streams because of too much small talk or streams that lags (twitch has been hammered the last few weeks)

Yes, you can initiate a spectate command on any player via /spectate, however unless the match was already being recorded, you will be required to wait 3 minutes. For cheating reasons, we do not allow for sub-three minute delays.

Most of the focus of the spectator mode has been driven by the weekly tournaments; it will be an ever evolving feature and we want to expose it better for end-users. It would be cool to always have various matches showcased so that players can instantly connect and watch marquee matches. More support for this kind of thing is on the horizon.
