View Full Version : 5 Bans per side in 1v1 joust

There is something that keeps me from playing 1v1 joust, and that thing is the amount of bans. Every game it is one of the top gods against one of the top gods.

The top gods i think are:


Freya
Chronos
He bo
Kali
Mercury
Poseidon
Vamana (against physical gods)


Now, with 5 bans per side we could have more gods being played in 1v1 joust. And while the number 5 might sound high, in conquest after the third pick for each team, basically ten gods are banned. So, every time you play ranked conquest there is 10 gods banned at some point, and even less to choose from for the last pick.

I would switch out Muzen cab for mercury. As a top tier jouster, I agree that 2 bans does not get rid of the most annoying gods, but I feel as if 3 bans would help greatly

Bans are to get rid of the very top tier gods. Not to eliminate every threat known to Smite jousters

I want diversity, i do not want to see the same of the 7 gods who did not get banned every game. There is about 20 threats i know, i want to see more of them than just 7 in joust.

I'd probably actually do joust more again (used to do it a decent amount) if they had more bans.

(Or at the very least casual joust was added back)

I stopped playing joust because of this. Right now, you will always see the top tier gods in joust, its always the same! I would start playing joust again if they have 3 bans per side like what Mexican said

3-4 would probably be fine. But yeah, joust needs to have more bans for sure.
Having more bans, so that I can ban top tiers and ao every game would make me a happier person.

Honestly I think 10 bans total would be great. Could you imagine the interesting 1v1 fights. Currently the amount of bands compared to gods is low, not including as already mentioned top tier heroes for 1v1 also being picked.

Say you ban 5 of the top 1v1 gods nothing stops the other person from banning total garbage to still leave "OP" gods open.

No 1v1's are intresting/fun anymore, its like... top tier gods fighting eachother.

49 bans would be pretty nice too

Even better, Reverse Joust draft. 2 bans per side, then you draft a the character your opponent has to play, and they draft what you have to play :-D

i would play that as a MOTD... sounds awesome but more then likely to easy to counter pick would have to be a blind pick

... I want that for a conquest :o It'll be all about picking the worst combos.

Surely if you ban those 5 gods, it just becomes 'who is the next 5 after that?' then you have a regression of which of the OP 10 you ban, not the OP 5.

This is obviously fixed with bans + blind pick for the god your opponent will play!

It'd also be cool if there was a system that detected win streaks, every win you get you can't use any god you've won with during your win streak until you lose. Maybe lose the number of games it took to get to where you are. For example you get back the god you won with the last in in a single loss, and the god from 2 wins ago in a 2 loss streak ect...

Adding more bans doesn't fix the issue. Hi-rez actually needs to rework the mode so that its balanced, and tweak the stats/skills to be more appropriate for the mode. No matter how many bans you have, Youre almost always going to see the same small cluster of gods, because people will just keep banning the same Gods.

The mode needs balance, and the gods need a little tweaking.
