Myths & Legends by Philip Wilkinson (http://www.amazon.com/Myths-Legends-illustrated-origins-meanings/dp/0756643090) might be a good start.

While it may not be the mythology the game is based on, this (http://www.rickriordan.com/my-books/percy-jackson/percy-jackson-olympians/lightning-thief.aspx) is the first book in a series taking ancient Greek mythology and putting it into the modern world. Quite a fun read, if I do say so myself.

I would also suggest The Witcher books series (and games). The themes there are based on Slavic and Norse mythology.
